I am 54 and although I work full time, as my 3 children have flown the nest, this has given me some much needed 'me' time. I think you can forget who you are when you have a family to bring up. After losing both parents, I began to wonder, what did I used to enjoy doing before I had a family of my own, taking up all my time - and it was SEWING! I learned dressmaking at school and used to make garments for myself, and once I bought a new sewing machine, my re-found hobby took off.
I am a new member of the guild and can't wait to go to the NEC in August and join in on some of the workshops!
I am proficient with dressmaking/pattern drafting and soft furnishings and enjoy all sorts of crafts including embroidery by hand or machine. I also enjoy creating embroidery designs in Digitizer V5 software for my machine.
I joined a local quilting group just over a year ago, and have recently purchased Electric Quilt 8 software which I am finding very useful. I haven't made a quilt using blocks as yet, but have started to make some blocks.
I am enjoying learning about quilting and I am looking forward to the time when I can complete my first full size quilt.
